In the Spring of 2014, 'Iolani began to create something special in their Lower School (grades K-6). 4th Grade Puts Volcano Poems on Scratch
The fourth grade studies Hawaii and as part of unit integration, an english component has them writing poems. The Lab was asked to help find a way to give their writing a makers twist. As a result of "Hour of Code", we decided to take their poems into the digital realm. Students were given a brief review of how Scratch works. They were then sent to a computer, told to log in and put at least 3 parts of their poem into an interactive Scratch program.
