Boys Week in Summer School

The last week of summer school (July 31-Aug 4) was Boys Week. We had eleven boys who spent from 8:00am till 2:30pm in the Lab making stuff. We introduced them to simple circuits, laser cutting, 3D printing, and coding/programming. Here are some of the things they created:

Lego Building Challenge...Using the Design Process:build a Lego Tower...build a taller Lego Tower...build something that will hold up a pencil...build something that will hold up a pencil but use the fewest Legos.

Learning about Simple Circuits: make a GamiBot using a coin cell battery and a small vibrating motor. We also had them make simple circuits with copper tape, and LED and a coin cell battery.

Laser Cutting Projects

3D Printing

Scratch Programming and MakeyMakeys

These two boys set out to make an iPad holder. After prototyping different designs out of cardboard, they decided on how they wanted to make it. They each designed and laser cut their holder and glued it together.
