It was a great summer. 31 total students came through the Lab for three different sessions of summer school. We'll be doing the same thing next summer but now it's time to get ready for the 2016-2017 school year.
'Iolani, a private K-12 school in Honolulu, Hawaii has made a commitment to S.T.E.M. education at all levels. In the Spring of 2014, 'Iolani began to create something special in their Lower School (grades K-6). This blog follows the process of creating a Lower School STEMLab/FabLab/Makerspace and how it's being used by students and staff.

Boys Week @ Summer School - The Last Three Days
The last three days of Boys week (Summer School 2016) have flown by. Wednesday morning we taught the guys how to use the 123D Design/3D printer and the vinyl cutter. After that they were set free for two and a half days to make whatever they wanted. Some gravitated to Scratch, others the laser cutter and some the 3D printer. By the end of the week, they had a number of things created. As a culmination to the week, we invited parents to come by the Lab at 2:00 so the "makers" could have a mini-mini maker faire to show and tell what they did the past 5 days.
It was a great summer. 31 total students came through the Lab for three different sessions of summer school. We'll be doing the same thing next summer but now it's time to get ready for the 2016-2017 school year.
