This year we have two after-school making classes. On Tuesday there are 10 students in our Circuit class and on Thursday we have 12 students in the Making class.
In the circuit class students will learn to make electric circuits, from simple ones (using copper tape) to fabric ones (using conductible thread) to soldered circuit board (which they will design and mill). We'll also introduce them to the arduino board and programing. These first few sessions we introduce them and get them familiar with basic circuits and making.
Simple Circuit with LEDs, coin cell batteries and copper tape
Making circuit with Lectify components
Make Magazine project - Fold Up a Jumping Origami Frog with LED Eyes
In the Making class, students are introduced to the design process and are shown how create both low and high tech. They will make things with cardboard, as well as learn to use the laser cutter, 3D printer, vinyl cutter and Scratch programing. The first 3 weeks involved low tech making.
Design and build an iPad holder from Legos
Create a game using cardboard and tape (a two week build)
We'll check back every few weeks to see what things they are doing as the semester goes on.
